Girl Crush {Mystery 40s Girl}

 photo 1_zpsb428d606.jpg

Finding an old photo of a cute girl is one thing, but finding dozens to sort through is a whole other barrel of monkeys. I stumbled on a few of these in Divine Consign on a wall, and when I was spotted spending a ridiculous amount of time looking at them, the lady said "Oh, there's a whole box of those, I can bring them out from the back if you want."

Yes. Yes I do want.

The only photos of her were early WWII-late 40s, and in that span of time she had a baby and wore lots of darling outfits. No wedding photos, so maybe she and her sweetheart (I snagged a pic of them) got married before he joined the military.

I have no idea what her name is. The only writing on the backs were names of babies and on the swimsuit photo she writes "I  look like a sea hag here"

So I kind of love her. She's cute, and silly, and I'd steal her wardrobe in a split second if given the chance. I can't pick a favorite.

Really loved this post...the photos are amazing. I wish they still existed like this. There is something so romantic about them. I love wondering what people's stories are/were.

Great post!

Oh my word, she is so, so lovely. It always makes me kind of sad to find stacks of old photos like this. But I'm glad they were rescued and are now loved by someone new...

OMG she is sooo gorgeous! And I'm not saying this because she's a vintage/40s girl - but she really does have a gorgeous face and hair and smile!!! I really wish I could find things like this! I'm allergic to dust and struggle to go through old paper stuff in shops :( I really wanna be friends with her - wish we knew her name!

Wow! What an incredible treasure. Wouldn't it be fantastic if you could find out more about her? It would be like a historical treasure hunt. How exciting!

What a DOLL! She's a darling gal, and oh! How I wish I knew her name! I adore these kind of candid shots from way back… Kinda makes you realize that the people back then were human too, not just illustrations and photographs from a fashion magazine or press photos. Love this post! You lucky thing finding these treasures!

Oh, she looks like she had such an amazing personality. So carefree and happy. Like Charlotte said above, we so often think of the people back then as just illustrations, not people like us, with quirks, personalities and even silliness! She seems like a card, I'm sure we'd get along just fine!

Wow these pictures are awesome! She's so pretty and silly. I love it! Sometimes I almost forget people were just about the same back then - silliness and all. Sometimes the black and white photos make things seem dull when it was really vibrant and colorful and people had tons of personality. I wish you knew more about her!

Isn't it interesting getting to glimpse into the past life of a stranger! I wonder what they would think to know that modern girls are looking at their photos as if they were looking through a fashion magazine?

Thank you for sharing these wonderful photographs! She did seem quite the character. She looks very young, late teens maybe?

I love these photos but also find it kind of sad that someone's life in photos has been picked up by a stranger to her (although you obviously love and will cherish them) and not passed down to her family - maybe she had no family to pass things down to or they didn't want them, it's fascinating to guess at the history behind them. Anyway I'm glad that you have them and have shared them here with us all! xx

I want to be her best friend! I wish through the power of the internet we could figure out who she is! Does anyone we know own facial recognition software? :)

Oh my word these are just too adorable! I hope one day to snag a box of someones photos. I think its imp to remember people even if we didn't know them. Thank you for keeping them. xox

You could turn these into a really interesting photo story.

This is so wonderful! Just a handful of photos can tell so many stories. I recently rescued a small collection of yearbook photos from the early 50s all inscribed to "Maggie" but don't have a single picture of her, only a name and the sentiments her friends wrote her.

i think her husband is my husband... i showed him the picture, and he literally had to take a couple steps back. it's really uncanny!

Oh my word, she's hilarious! I love this!! A while back my mother went to the flea market and came back with a box of old photos that some family had just left.....I love finding old photos because they tell such amazing stories. This was great!

She looks quite a bit like my neighbor Katie across the street. I wonder if she had red hair?

Is it just me or does this girl look very similar to Emily of rubyslipperjourneys.blogspot.com? Especially in the last picture.
