1933 pants

Photobucket

Sometimes when you can't sleep at night you just have to make pants.

And they will turn out to be the pants of your dreams.

The pattern for these is from 1933, so the leg is nice and wide, and I found fabric with a perfect drape. Fabric Depot had every color, I'm thinking red is next, don't you?

Casey made a white pair, and I really love them, but that just seems like white pants and two fluffy black cats would be a constant annoyance. Too bad, nothing says 1930s like white wide legged pants!

Navy, red, and mustard is my favorite color combination. It looks fabulous on you. Oh, and wonderful pants- they look like they were made for you. Oh wait, they were! Lol!

Thanks doll,

Oooh, they're lovely! Definitely make the red ones! What are they made of?

Those are so cute! And they look so comfy too! (that's saying a lot, from me. I never wear pants because they're so constrictive). One of these days I'll have to try to sew myself a pair. That's if I ever finish my circle skirt, and if my cats would stop using my sewing table as a playground! :)

Nicely done! It's always good when late night inventions look just as great in the morning! x

I adore the fact that it was the desire to make a pair of 1930s pants that kept you from falling asleep one eve. Sleep often remains at bay for me, too, and it is then that the crafting/creating bug often strikes, so I totally understand what you meant.

Fantastic trousers - and whole outfit, I love how well the blouse and pants jive together.

So cute! I love vintage pants, as they are generally so much more flattering than modern day styles.

Funny you should post this now, because I just finished up a cream pair that are almost identical this afternoon. : )

Happy sewing!

I wish my not sleeping was that productive! I have a wee sneaky questions - what is a reasonable price for bakelite bangles or brooches? It's harder to find in Aus and whenever I ebay or etsy I'm just not sure if the prices are reasonable or ridiculous.

Man I love those pants! I have several patterns from the VFL & while it's always caught my eys, I never got around to buying a copy. Sadly, it is now out of stock. Looks like we will need to petition them to make some more copies.

There is just nothing like a smart pair of pants! Those look great on you. I have the Wearing History Smooth Sailing pattern and have been wanting to make them forever. Red is definitely on my list too! Maybe I need a sleepless night to finally get me to it. ;)

I reeeeally want to make a pair of wide leg trousers! I've been eyeing up Lauren's "Smooth Sailing" pattern for months. One of these days I'm going to click that 'buy' button!
