You can buy me this kitchen if you want.

Don't usually post on weekends, but there were too many pics to post on Facebook :)
Sam and I went to an estate sale late in the day, where we ran into my friend Dana, and both swooned over the mid century kitchen with the most fantastic oven I've ever seen. These pics really don't do it justice.

The itty bitty fridge! Love. They had another full sized fridge from the same period in the garage. Photobucket
The buttons for the stove. Photobucket
Even the dishwasher was cute. Photobucket
I left with all these fantastic 40s and 50s belts, only 50 cents each! The benefit of going to an estate sale late is they usually have a "half off" type thing going. My favorite is the red studded belt, and the one on the far right is Whiting and Davis! Photobucket
And these darling little strawberry blossom spoons. Not sure exactly what they are, drink stirrers? Too cute whatever they are. I also got a pretty 40s tweed suit that's now at the cleaners. I wanted to get a 60s tweed suit with matching shoes, but the suit just wasn't all that cute. Dana got a darling plaid suit with matching hat though! Gotta love estate sales.

In Sweden most kitchens looked like this http://static.beta.pixgallery.com/images/detail/L/V/T/PIX-LVTRFL.jpg. Some people still keep their kitchens in its original way, and I am looking for the perfect apartment with the perfect kitchen from the 50's. Really enjoy your blog btw! All the best, Ulrika

Okay, that photo didn't really do it justice, instead here's a newly built kitchen in the original design from back in the days http://www.husohem.se/Images/HOH/Cache/708/0/11373_50_tal2.jpg :) Hope you enjoy some Swedish design.

Wowwwww! I'm in love with the curved cabinetry! And I'm so jealous that you got that red belt - it would go perfectly with the '40s red studded shoes I just bought!

I've never seen a midcentury kitchen in that good of condition. The wallpaper, especially, is fantastic.

Wow--I love that oven!!! Those strawberry spoons are so cute--I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like them! Will be fun for summer cocktails. ;)

I agree with CARIEE about the wallpaper. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the first photo because the top border faintly resembled that of the sixth picture down from this post. Your dream kitchen is cute even without dancing anthropomorphic vegetables.

I completely understand how you feel. Last year I stopped by an estate sale in one of my favorite neighborhoods and was blown away by the kitchen. The cabinets were pink metal! All of the original appliances were intact as well as the chrome dinette set with boomerang formica. I could have died right there. The lady running the sale saw how much I loved the kitchen so she allowed me peek in the "off limits" areas. One was the hall closet which contained a fold out record player that was connected to every room in the house. It was at that moment I knew I wanted to live there for the rest of my life. Unfortunately my little dream home was not for sale and to make matters worse the owner's grandson already had plans to remodel. If he had been there I probably would have kicked him in the shins!

btw, the floral pitcher sitting under the window (6th pic) is a Clara pitcher in the Chintz pattern. It was made by Blue Ridge Pottery right here in East TN. The factory was located in the town where I grew up and was in business from the 1930's until mid-1957. My grandfather worked the kilns and my grandmother attached handles to cups.
