Thrifting treasures

Photobucket
1937 McCall's magazines. They have the most amazing fashion plates I'm dying to share!
Photobucket
A little leather pouch that loops onto a belt. For when I go.....hiking...(?)
Photobucket
A pretty 1930s style pillow.
Photobucket
"Snubbers". You know how those 30s and 40s catalogues have peep toe shoes with absurdly perfect mannequin toes peeking out? These are little rubber inserts you put in the peep toe, to look ideal, and keep rain and dirt off your toes and stockings!
Photobucket
1937 knitting book, I want everything in it, including the hats and shoes...
Photobucket
A cute little pencil holder.

Photobucket
Blue ice trays to match my kitchen.
Photobucket
Carved wooden birdie pin.
Photobucket
A darling dress pattern that looks quite a bit like the sixth photo in this magazine.

Oh goodie! Lovely McCall magazines. I'm doing a challenge over at my blog to try and find images of all McCall patterns from 1936 to 1940 to update the Vintage Pattern Wiki....I just started 1937! Can't wait to see the pattern drawings from these magazines!!

Oh my goodness--those are great finds! The magazines look especially good; I have one copy of an older McCalls and the fashion illustrations are so beautiful. I love the "Snubbers" too--such a weird/neat idea!

Snubbers! I need some, then I would buy peep toe shoes.. I am not a big fan of the peep toe, toes look.. snubbers are what is needed!

Love the new post! I know you changed the header for your blog, but I thought the old one was much nicer. The new one does not show the true beauty of you or the vintage items you blog about.

Seriously terrific stuff! I need to start hunting for some snubbers, they seem awfully handy. Also, I LOVE the new look of your blog. I'll miss the old one for sure, but this one is really neat!

That bird pin is too darling! I love it! And that dress pattern looks incredible too. I always see vintage dress patterns but I'm hesitant to buy one, as I'm almost positive if I tried to make one that it would end in a disaster, haha. Last time I tried to sew a blouse I had to cut myself out of it when I tried it on...it was not good, haha.

Oh, and my sister Wendy was so thrilled that you posted her photo on your Facebook page! We were all really excited for her, and she was so glad you liked it. :)

Snubbers! I never knew - would love to see them modeled to get a better idea of them. I always find the details of vintage dressing the most interesting.

And I really want a pair of Snubbers now, for when my toe's nail polish is all chipped and I want to wear peeptoes, hehe! It's a neat idea!
