Christmas shopping

I found a funny little hat to match my coat, isn't it cute? Honestly I think it's a bit silly, but so are the best hats. It was a hit while shopping downtown today though, I had no problem getting attention, even with the holiday rush ;)

At one store in particular (can't say which, christmas presents!), a number of men left their counters to assist me with one small purchase, boys are so funny when a well dressed girl walks through the door!

My mother and I had lunch at Jakes, as a gift from my grandmother. It was a wonderful, cozy lunch, complete with dessert and tea. Afterward I just wanted to curl up next to the fireplace and take a nap, a sign of a really good lunch :)

Hope everyone is having a nice holiday season, I've still got some presents to make!

Love your hair, super cute.
Also, completely agree about the guys coming to help out well dressed ladies! I was at the grocery store the other day and they were all so willing to help out.

Adore your hat as well, uber fabulous.

I love how versatile your look is - you can go from adorable to flawlessly sophisticated with just the addition of an upswept hairdo and matching coat and hat. Just like magic!

Love your coat, too! It's funny how you get attention when dressed in vintage. I get called "Mrs." when dressed well, and of course it's okay, having been married for ages, but really not usual in this country!

I can picture those male clerks scrambling and tripping over each other to come to your assistance just like they do in all those romantic comedies. Your wardrobe is only part of the reason. The rest is on you because you possess the kind of beauty that stops traffic and breaks hearts. You are the quintessential "the girl can't help it" type of woman. That last photo seals the deal! Brilliant!

That hat is amazing- it looks like the lopped off top of a teddy bear's head (and I mean that sweet!) It looks so perfect with your coat.

I've noticed the same thing, when I'm all dolled up, I get some great service in stores!

Sounds like a perfect day.

I LOVE your hat!!! Did you buy it with the intention to wear it with the coat, or did you already have it and they just happened to happily match? Too cute!

You always look so natural in your photos, never out-of-place. Sometimes I forget that you still live in the modern world, and might be likely to get odd looks.

I have, once or twice, experienced better customers service due to a nicer outfit. But I probably don't dress up often enough. Maybe I should fix that... ^_^

Chie mihara! The magic words. Lucky you, finding a pair at a garage sale. That would never happen to me. I have my eye on the most fab pair, but they are SO expensive. Happy whopping : )

Apothecary Inn, Thanks! I searched for a hat to match the fur on the collar, still searching for more though!

Miss Verginia, it's very simple, I should do a tutorial sometime! It's just making a curl, and pinning it on the inside, and spraying it with hairspray!

Billie, I think that was my Chanel, it's a discontinued shade, of course I adore it :(

Thanks Erin! I posted a shot of the dress on my facebook :)

Miriam Parkman said...

Ah, Solanah!
The sight of your completely fantastic outfits was just what I needed right now.
I'm all alone in my apartment in wool socks and sloppy long johns, with a furious snowstorm outside. I'm re-decorating my kitchen but kind of lost my inspiration when the weather's so dull.
But, with a look on this quite amazing fur ensemble, the cute blue dress with the most wonderful hat, shoes and brosch in the post and underneath and yes, pretty much all your pictures, I feel fully inspired again!
I just wish I could wear nude stockings and open heels with my wintersuits, instead of the wool knee highs and flat, black leather ankle boots I have to wear...(even if the boots are original 40s.
I will most likely use some of your photos for an inspiration-post on my blog, hope that's ok!
